WHY WE’RE FUNDRAISING (& NEED YOUR SUPPORT):
We need your support, because we are one of the few 501c3 arts and culture nonprofits serving women and LGBTQ+ creatives and artists in Texas—and we only exist thanks to donations of $5 to $50 from community members like you. So, when you shop or donate at The Big Community Flea, you’re allowing us to:
Produce projects & programs that increase access to $100,000+ in opportunities for women and LGBTQ+ creatives in Texas
Welcome 20,000 annual visitors across free and sliding scale creative community markets, festivals and workshops in Texas
Work directly with 1,000 women and LGBTQ+ artists and creatives in our programs to bring forward projects that our values in Texas
Moreover, like many independent creative spaces in Austin, we were impacted by inflation and increases in expenses this year. Our organization alone has sustained $22,500 in unexpected costs across all of our programs due to rising rent and the effects of Texas weather on our events, our building and our production equipment. We are hoping to recover this unexpected $22,500 in costs through March 2024.
~ $10,000 in unexpected moving costs and repairs to our new building, including replacing doors, fixing leaks, restoring walls and removing mold
~ $10,000 in unexpected costs due to Texas weather-related closures at The Front Market, including nonrefundable equipment & venue rentals
~ $2,500 in unexpected A/C repairs
Thank you for helping us continue our work into 2024. To find out more about the impact of your donation, check out our latest impact report.
