① program events COORDINATOR

FULL-TIME staff role

  • $30 per hour @ 40 hours per week ($62,400 annualized)

  • 40 paid days off per year (20 mandatory holidays and 20 combined sick leave / vacation days)

LOCATION: AUSTIN, TEXAS

Role Description —

The Program Events Coordinator collaborates directly with Future Front’s team to produce digital and in-person events within Future Front’s five core programs at the organization’s headquarters and partner venues in Austin, Texas. This role reports to the Executive Director.

We are seeking an engaging and motivated events professional—who is passionate about our mission and our programs—to join our small, but mighty team full-time. This position’s day-to-day tasks and roles include administrative, curatorial, planning and production work around events, like:

  • Coordinating, producing and leading events onsite as a representative of Future Front two to four times per month, supporting program participants, supervising volunteers and interacting with public visitors

  • Preparing project management schedules, onsite runs of show, public listings and visitor registration for events with Future Front’s upcoming season of programs daily

  • Collaborating with team members and program participants weekly to distribute postmortems, surveys and recaps following events to ensure Future Front’s mission and values are reflected and improved upon

  • Utilizing inclusive and collaborative communication daily with program participants, venues, team members, staff and volunteers daily, ensuring event needs are met, conflicts are resolved and expectations are clear

  • Collaborating with Future Front’s Executive Director and curatorial teams to book staff, volunteers and program participants for seasonal exhibition and commission opportunities within events for Future Front’s programs, including The Future Front House, The Front Festival, The Front Market, Future Front’s fundraisers and more

  • Attending weekly planning meetings and updating open programs’ seasonal and annual timelines, documentation and basic budgets accordingly

  • Publicly representing Future Front—both in-person and digitally—for select program press opportunities, program tours and other moments of stakeholder communication in which the organization’s story, mission, vision and programs need to be accurately reflected

  • Gathering information and contributing to policy, inclusivity measures and operations updates, during quarterly visioning meetings alongside Future Front’s team

Role QUALIFICATIONS —

This role is full-time at 40 hours per week, requiring 28 hours onsite per week at Future Front Texas’ headquarters or partner venues in Central and East Austin. (Although 75% of all employee shifts are completed during organization’s open hours on Tuesday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM, this role requires occasional weekday evening and weekend events. Schedules are set seasonally with ample notice.)

Qualified candidates will demonstrate three years’ experience in creative production and event coordination. Qualified candidates will also demonstrate a values alignment with Future Front’s mission, vision and Be A Good Human Guidelines, as well as a distinct interest in arts, culture and creative industries.

② CREATIVE SPACE ASSISTANT, SPRING SEMESTER 2025

WORK-STUDY program (Part-Time)

LOCATION: AUSTIN, TEXAS

START DATE: JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2025

  • $15 per hour at 15 to 19 hours per week (time commitment ranges based on student candidate’s schedule)

  • Qualified candidates must be eligible and currently enrolled within The University of Texas at Austin’s Work-Study Program. Ineligible candidates need not inquire.

Role Description —

The Creative Space Assistant collaborates directly with Future Front’s team to support communications and storytelling at the organization’s headquarters and East Austin community space. This role reports to the Executive Director and Program Events Coordinator.

This position’s day-to-day tasks and roles include supporting and studying communications around Future Front’s four core programs, like:

  • Assisting with facility tasks, inventory management and welcoming visitors at The Future Front House (75% of role)

  • Developing interviews and storytelling materials around Future Front as an organization, as well as its program participants

  • Supporting communications tasks around Future Front’s donor, member, visitor, program participant and volunteer coordination

  • Learning from Future Front team members and Future Front’s community onsite at two events per month

Role QUALIFICATIONS —

This role requires at least 12 to 15 hours in office per week at Future Front Texas’ headquarters at 1900 E. 12th St. 78702 or partner venues in Central and East Austin. Only for students in UT's Work-Study program. No previous experience is required.

③ BOARD TREASURER

volunteer leadership position (10 hours per month)

LOCATION: AUSTIN, TEXAS

START DATE: MARCH 2025

Role Description —

As a member of Future Front’s Governing Board, the Treasurer role is a signatory position, legally required by the IRS, whose role is to supervise the organization's finances as a volunteer. *What, Generally, Makes A Great Board Treasurer?

  • Knowledge – Recent training, experience or distinct interest in nonprofit financial terminology and requirements and nonprofit leadership/development

    Communications – Regularly checks in with board for questions, goals or concerns about financial information/situation to bring to Executive Director and/or staff

  • Planning – Partner with staff leadership to develop an aligned, useful budget and convey budget info to board. 

  • Strategy – Assess longer term goals and initiate discussions to connect finance and mission

In addition to the core Governing Board responsibilities, and typical expectations outlined above, the Treasurer works closely with the Executive Director, Board President, and at times the organization’s CPA, with a focus on the following —

  • Advising on the use of budget against Future Front’s mission, vision and strategic plan

  • Audit of development plans

  • Participating in fundraising

  • Chairing the Development Advisory Board

Student Fellowship (Part-Time)

  • $15 per hour at 15 to 19 hours per week

    • This fellowship is intended for active students working toward course credit and/or participating in a Work-Study program.

    • The time commitment range can be adjusted to meet any course credit hourly requirements.

Role Description —

The Communications Fellow collaborates directly with Future Front’s team to support communications and storytelling at the organization’s headquarters in Austin, Texas.

This position’s day-to-day tasks and roles include supporting and studying communications around Future Front’s four core programs, like:

  • Attending weekly planning meetings and quarterly Future Front visioning meetings

  • Assisting with facility tasks, inventory management and welcoming visitors at The Future Front House (50% of role)

  • Developing interviews and storytelling materials around Future Front as an organization, as well as its program participants

  • Communicating with program participants, team members and volunteers around program statuses, updates and next steps to ensure inclusive and collaborative communication

  • Supporting communications tasks around Future Front’s donor, member and volunteer coordination

  • Learning from Future Front team members and Future Front’s community onsite at two events per month

  • Pitching and completing one quarterly storytelling project for the candidate’s portfolio / body of work

Role QUALIFICATIONS —

This role a minimum of eight hours in office per week at Future Front Texas’ headquarters or partner venues in Central and East Austin. Intended for students pursuing an area of study in communications. No previous experience is required.
