Downtown Austin Creative Retreat
FUTURE FRONT X THE LINE HOTEL AUSTIN
Future Front Texas is partnering with The LINE Hotel to host a two-night creative retreat for Central Texas artists and musicians in the heart of downtown Austin.
Known for its legacy of supporting artists and integrating creativity into the guest experience, The LINE Austin provides the perfect backdrop for a community-focused approach to creative visibility.
Together, we create an alternative retreat experience—removed from the everyday rhythm and everyday life to retreat with intention.
BEHIND THE RETREAT
The retreat runs from July 31 to August 2, with an optional pre-party on July 30. The general retreat schedule includes:
JULY 30
7 PM — Pre-Party: Swim Session with Future Front
JULY 31
3 PM — Room Check-in Begins
6 PM — Artist Welcome and Art Tour of The LINE Hotel Austin
7:30 PM — Sunset Walk and Bat Watch on Congress Bridge
9 PM — Live Music and Toast in Cantero
AUGUST 1
9 to 11 AM — Free Time
12 to 5 PM — Lakeview Craft Workshops & Creative Sessions
12 to 5 PM — Artist & Musician Consults in Showroom 201
5 to 7 PM — Free Time
7 PM — Artist Dinner at Arlo Grey Austin
AUGUST 2
10 AM — Closing Stretch and Reflections
11 AM — Room Check-Out Ends
12 to 4 PM — Closing Party: Swim Session with Future Fro
HOW TO ATTEND
Retreat participants will be selected from an open call application process. Accepted applicants will receive complimentary stay at The LINE Hotel Austin for the weekend, as well as free access to all retreat programming.

ABOUT THE LINE HOTEL
VENUE LOCATION + ACCESSIBILITY — All retreat sessions will be held at The Line Hotel Austin, which is located at 111 E Cesar Chavez St, Austin, Texas 78701. The venue is wheelchair-accessible.
PARKING — We highly encourage utilizing rideshare or carpooling as there is limited valet parking available onsite. This venue is easily accessible by Austin public transportation, too.
OUR COMMUNITY SAFETY GUIDELINES —
All Future Front staff, volunteers and guests will be required to practice mutual respect, as well as demonstrate an alignment with Future Front’s code of conduct and values: futurefronttexas.org/values.
Capacity is limited to reduce crowding of any kind and all events will be held in primarily outdoor and open-air spaces or have access to proper ventilations and well-maintained A/C systems.
At Future Front events, all guests are expected to follow Austin-local health and safety guidelines for gatherings, as well as practice consideration with the consumption of tobacco, alcohol and any other legal, mind-altering or dangerous substances and objects. This includes:
As Future Front strives to be a good neighbor, we also discourage the use of tobacco products on the property of nearby businesses and residences, to improve air quality, throughout our events.
Tobacco use and electronic smoking device use are not permitted at any time within Future Front properties and event spaces at least 15 ft from entrances, exits, operational windows, or ventilation system intake vents.
Littering of tobacco-related products on the grounds or parking lots is also prohibited.
Concealed or open weapons and firearms (including handguns) are not allowed at any Future Front venues.

The LINE Austin’s Creative Retreat is part of The LINE’s GET HERE program and ongoing partnership with Future Front.
Since 2017, our strategic collaborations with the hotel—from art installations to community swims to The Front Festival—have generated $75,000+ in support for independent artists in Austin. Forever featuring emerging creatives, the partnership has become a love note to their work and a friendly introduction to the city we call home.
ABOUT THE LINE HOTEL AUSTIN
The Line Hotel Austin is located in Downtown Austin, Texas. Once home to a jazz club that broadcast live on local radio in the late 1960s, the hotel is part of Downtown history and holds a cultural legacy as unique as the city itself. Today, you can find a little bit of everything HERE—art, food, design—even nature.

Homegrown in Austin, Future Front is an award-winning cultural space and public exhibition series—with women and LGBTQ+ creatives at the front.
As a 501c3 arts and culture nonprofit, we produce two annual community-led exhibitions, The Front Market and The Front Festival, platforming independent artists and creatives across disciplines in Texas. Beyond our flagship exhibitions, we host seasonal shows and workshops at our creative space in East Austin, welcoming 20,000+ visitors per year.
