“Suspended Belief” by Rewon
Come through for the opening of suspended belief, the latest solo show from Austin-based artist Rewon.
Open for ten days only, the show is a coming-of-age story. Through pieces created over the last decade, suspended belief chronicles the artist’s practice, as well as her nostalgic reorganization of identity and evangelical faith.
The opening reception will be held from 6 to 9 PM on Saturday, September 19 with a closing reception and artist talk to follow on Saturday, September 26.

WHAT’S ON VIEW
Rewon's second solo exhibition, suspended belief, brings together paintings, drawings, poetry, and multimedia sculptures that reflect on her experience of leaving the evangelical Christian faith she was raised in. Organized into four chapters—Genesis, Exodus, Lamentations, and Revelation—the exhibition traces the arc of the artist’s religious deconstruction, from inherited belief to questioning, grieving and rebuilding identity.
By holding nostalgia alongside critical curiosity, the exhibition explores what is gained and what is lost when we question narratives we inherit. While rooted in the artist’s experience, suspended belief invites viewers to imagine what could emerge if we allow ourselves to change.
As part of Future Front’s ongoing Community Studio exhibitions, suspended belief reflects the journey of Austin-based multidisciplinary artists through the city. Rewon participated in Future Front’s 2024/25 Artist Residency program.
MEET THE ARTIST

Rewon
REWON is an Austin-based artist who transforms personal memory into visual meditation. Using childhood photographs as source material, she creates paintings, sculptures, and installations that expand individual experience into broader social and systemic reflection. Each series unfolds like a visual journal, tracing explorations of identity, family, and inherited structures across time.
She holds a BA in Journalism from Baylor University, with minors in Religion and Studio Art. Her work has been exhibited in over a dozen Austin galleries, including her solo exhibitions “suspended belief” (2026) and "SPLIT: Portraits of the AAPI Diaspora” (2023).
Committed to community-building through art, Rewon has served as Director of Artistic Programs at The Gallery ATX and as editor of Mujer Manifesto Zine (2022–2024). She has participated in the Creative Futures Collective Fellowship (2022), Soho House Creative Mentorship (2023), and Austin Emerging Arts Leaders Mentorship (2024), and was an artist-in-residence at Future Front (2025). She was also named an “Austin Artist to Watch in 2026” by Austin Gallery.

Future Front’s Community Studio is located at 1900 E. 12th Street. From soil to cement, the 1940s building has a long history that precedes us (including its first owner Vera Barton and the We Rise mural).
WHERE TO PARK: The Future Front House has a large paid parking lot across the street and is directly accessible by bus line. There’s also free parking up and down the street and in surrounding neighborhoods. Carpool, if you can!
WHAT TO DO: The Future Front House is located within the historic East 12th Street District, which is home to many other creative spaces and businesses, as well as organizations like Six Square. Explore the District while you’re around.

As Future Front strives to be a good neighbor, we also discourage the use of tobacco products on the property of nearby businesses and residences, to improve air quality, throughout our events.
