Annually, we work with 15 artists in residence. All based in Austin, Texas.

Collaborating within our programs or with our partners—like The Contemporary Austin, The LINE Hotel Austin and Pease Park—our Resident Artists work with us to create everything from public workshop series to custom playlists to life-size installations.

Designed distinctively for emerging visual and sound artists with community practices in Central Texas, the program includes structured, year-long professional development from Future Front’s staff and partners, as well as group exhibitions within Future Front’s programs.

2024/25 RESIDENT ARTISTS:

Rewon Shimray (she/her) is a native Austinite and biethnic Asian American who processes her cultural and queer identity through autobiographical paintings. Her compositions blend childhood photographs, popular iconography, and cultural artifacts to narrate her upbringing in white dominant and Christian fundamentalist spaces. Rewon’s paintings offer a site of contemplation, recognition and connection. She earned a BA in Journalism from Baylor University with minors in religion and studio art. Rewon has exhibited work in over a dozen Austin galleries, including her debut solo exhibition in May 2023, titled “SPLIT: Portraits of the AAPI Diaspora.”

Olivia Komahcheet (she/her) is a music producer, live performer and Emmy nominated composer whose work spans within spaces of music, visual media and immersive art experiences. Collectively intertwining a multitude of soundscapes often integrating alternative/indie, experimental art pop and indietronica, Olivia has worked with top brands including Paramount Pictures, Apple +, PBS, Instagram, Ableton, Red Bull, Walrus Audio, Sundance, Square Register and Brooks Running with original music being heard on Netflix and Shudder TV platforms. Her original music has been married to films screened at National Museum of the American Indian Smithsonian, TIFF Film Festival, SXSW and is a 3 year platinum Producer on Timbaland's global music industry platform "Beatclub".

Iris Kwon (she/her) works as an artist under the name Child Appetite because holding onto her childhood memories keeps her grounded through experiences of not fitting into any cultures. Over the past few years, she has studied and explored her memories, transforming rather dark moments into whimsical pieces using vibrant colors and humorous characterized animals. Her art is a continuous journey of turning personal history into visual narratives that invite viewers to rediscover the magic and resilience of childhood. She aims to evoke a sense of nostalgia and curiosity in strangers, believing that even though everyone’s experiences and memories are different, there is always an overlap.

Damino (they/them) is an interdisciplinary artist based out of ATX. Their love of music, art and wellness informs the work they create. They are currently focusing on releasing their first official EP, but are known for performing energizing hybrid live DJ sets. They also run their company Day by Day Wellness and curate events with @enter.chakana, @babeatx & @artislandatx. They are passionate about uplifting marginalized voices in the entertainment industry.

DJ Beaujolais aka Gabrielle Rose (she/they) explores how two turntables and a mixer can make our vast world feel intimate. Having worked many years in the service industry, her infectious enthusiasm for music and craft food led her to open Try Hard Coffee Roasters, Austin’s first Japanese listening bar-styled cafe, where DJs and music heads shared their personal record collections with the community. She believes that such third spaces are the most powerful conduits for expressing culture and connecting people from all walks of life, and so she forms strong relationships with restaurants, bars, DIY venues and the vibrant DJ community in Austin to create immersive experiences that drive this ethos forward. Like a fruity Beaujolais, her sets should be enjoyed in good company and preferably with dancing.

From sound engineer turned DJ, DJ Helios (she/her) has been a prominent presence in the music and entertainment industry for the past decade. She possesses diverse talents - spinning for renowned names such as Espolòn, Corona and La Colombe in Texas, at massive corporate conferences in Los Angeles and Las Vegas, as well as gracing the decks of nightclubs in Mexico City. She has shared stages with artists like Billy Idol, captivated audiences at colossal Latin music festivals such as Besame Mucho with her electrifying performances and was an official SXSW Artist in 2024. Helios fuses beats and pulls inspiration from her Mexican roots, her love of hip hop, reggaeton, house and funky edits. She loves the universality of music and how people can celebrate community, cultura and life on the dance floor.

DJ Dana Scully (she/her) is a vinyl DJ based in Austin, TX, and the founder of the Queer Vinyl Collective, a community dedicated to uplifting queer artists and fostering inclusive music experiences. Dana’s distinctive style blends genres like disco, pop, and hip-hop, creating vibrant, immersive sets that captivate and energize diverse audiences. Through her work in the Queer Vinyl Collective, she actively cultivates opportunities for aspiring DJs, helping them refine their skills and connect with new listeners. With active residencies throughout Austin, Dana curates spaces where music, diversity, and community intersect, ensuring the local music scene remains accessible and inclusive for all.

Elena Marcozzi (she/her) is an oil painter and fiber artist who beckons viewers into a dreamlike world of texture and color through her wool felt paintings, adorned with whimsical beaded and embroidered embellishments. In her daily life, Elena finds meaning and creative inspiration working alongside artists with disabilities at Imagine Art, a studio collective that furthers her belief in using art to empower and heal.

Brittany Greer (she/her), aka HoneyPocket, has been into co-creation and passion fusion her whole life. As a multi disciplinarian, she draws inspiration from the world around her and brings a blended mixture of skills and experience to the table - both figuratively & literally. Her musical tastes encompass this desire for blending and merging sounds together so you'll often hear a variety of genres, samples, reworks, and original tracks ranging from jazz, funk, hip hop, and latin roots to your newer sub-genres of house, future soul, and vapor twitch. She enjoys providing atmosphere in collaboration with what else is happening in a space - from cocktail lounge, to brunch, to members club meetups - she aims to enhance the vibe of what's already been curated.

Jeffrey Jin (they/them) (b. 2003) is a photographer with roots in Houston working across a variety of genres—primarily documentary and fine art—to explore themes of togetherness and belonging. Through their images, they hope to unravel and reimagine narratives behind family, heritage, and land. Their process often urges them to think about their identity as an Asian American (as both its own entity and in the context of diaspora) queerness, sexuality, corporeality, and their deep affection for the South.

Leah Bury (she/her) is a multimedia artist whose work spans photography, collage, writing, and music, with a focus on shining a spotlight on emotions and experiences that exist in the shadows. Through her art, Leah explores the liminal spaces between different ideas, identities, and emotions—those vulnerable, complex moments that are difficult to put into words. Her goal is to create work that others can see themselves reflected in, offering a tangible jumping-off point for connection. This theme runs through her photography, including her Dear Body series, where she worked with over two dozen individuals to celebrate the body and encourage participants to write letters of love to areas they once felt shame around, and her Projections series, which explored the complexity of multifaceted identities. Recently, Leah has expanded her practice by releasing music under the name Liminalia. In addition to her artistic pursuits, she is a curator, and the co-founder of the Slow Fashion Festival, dedicated to fostering spaces for other creatives to share their work and build community.

Victoria Cardenas (she/her), aka Wavy Roller, was raised in Buda, Texas and now currently resides in Austin. She is a self-taught artist that primarily works with acrylic on canvas but is constantly exploring other creative methods such as murals, screen printing, block printing, and more! Her love for sharing art began with vending and meeting others that can relate to her art, as it gave her the courage to keep going creatively. Her art explores connection (and lack of connection) that is all around her; with herself & her own trauma, others, and nature. She explores these feelings through fun calming colors and shape. She believes it's important to find her relation to everything in existence no matter how big or small!

Wyldflower (she/her/they), blooming in Austin but hailing from Detroit, is the founder and host of Sunday Sessions, a DJ, builder, & spiritually led wellness champion. She studied architecture, herbalism, and continues to study many other subjects. As a DJ & music fanatic, she’s heavily influenced by classic House & Soulful sounds, but her styles & interests are as expansive as her travels have been. As a human, she's a champion of anything that supports our collective liberation and believes community is an integral in that pursuit.

Yvonne Uwah (she/her) is a self-taught photographer living in Austin, Texas. She began using photography out of a deep desire to connect with and acknowledge other people. Because of this, her work primarily focuses on portraiture and what emerges when investing time into relationships.
