Come through for one of our classic Community Meet-Ups on Saturday, October 14 from 11 AM to 1 PM CT.

As the first ever meet-up at The Future Front House, this one’ll be pretty special. As always, this meet-up is run by and for women and LGBTQ+ creatives—open to all.

THE SCHEDULE

11:00 AM — Meet us at The House to settle in. This is a good time to explore The Future Front House, grab a cup of coffee in our neighborhood, explore this month’s pop-ups, get your portrait taken and introduce yourself to a few people.

11:30 AM — Community storytime begins! Special guests to be announced soon.

12:00 PM — Announcements open. If you're there, you can share (capacity limited). You can submit your announcement ahead of time at this link.

12:30 PM — Announcements close and the rest of your day begins. Feel free to grab lunch in the area, explore neighboring creative spaces and arts studios that are open, etc. The House will remain open for questions and hangs until 6 PM.

 

HOW TO ATTEND

Tickets are $10 minimum donation for everybody and every body.

If you’re a Future Front member, this event is free for you and your guests.

If this is your first time at a meet-up, you'll also get one month of membership for free. (The link to claim this will be sent to you after the meet-up.)

Featured Speaker

Raasin McIntosh (she/her) is the founder of Raasin in the Sun and Vice President of Urban Activation at Downtown Austin Alliance. As a former Track and Field Olympian, whose career spans nearly a decade, she dedicates her time to community arts and placemaking initiatives in cross-disciplinary collaborative work.

Melissa Hargus Pierce (she/her) is a local Austinite, fifth generation Texan and the co-founding Creative Director of Soul Studio. Soul Studio is a Natural Dye House & Slow Fashion Label with local “Best of” nominations and features in publications like The Cut, Instyle and Tribeza. With Soul Studio her goal is to cultivate a brand which practices and inspires change for a more ethical and artisan fashion industry via a business model that prioritizes education and community. Learn more about Soul Studio and check out their one of a kind wearable art pieces at www.wearesoulstudio.com

Mikaela Rodriquez (she/her), known as Dj Veneer, is a queer disabled producer from Austin, born and raised in South Texas.

Female-founded and operated, Kinship Milk Tea is hand-batched in Austin, Texas.

As The Future Front House’s official retail partners, The Little Gay Shop and Redeemer Small Batch will be open next door.

Erika Aldrich Murga (she/her) is the founder of Temazcal Life, a personal care & wellness brand inspired by Mexican ancestral rituals meant to renew the body, mind, and spirit.

Samantha Asencio (she/her) is the artist and owner behind Future Vagabond.  Coming from a fine art background, she started the brand as a way to bring art into the everyday. 

Clew Vintage was founded by Kenzie Hirsch (she/her) to give vintage goods, wares and clothes the cutest second life.

 

PREPARE YOUR VISIT

The Future Front House is located at 1900 E. 12th Street within the historic East 12th Street District.

WHERE TO PARK: The Future Front House has a large parking lot across the street and is directly accessible by bus line. Carpool, if you can!

WHAT TO DO: The Future Front House is located within the historic East 12th Street District, which is home to many other creative spaces and businesses, as well as organizations like Six Square. Explore the District while you’re around.

IMPORTANT COMMUNITY NOTES + GUIDELINES —

  • All Future Front staff, volunteers and guests will be required to practice mutual respect, as well as demonstrate an alignment with Future Front’s guidelines and values.

  • All Future Front sessions are currently held online, outdoors or in open-air spaces where quality air flow is possible, ADA compliance is prioritized and assisted mobility devices can be utilized.

  • All Future Front sessions follow capacity limits to reduce crowding of any kind.

  • All guests are required to practice mutual respect and social distancing, as well as follow APH’s COVID-19 Guidelines, which currently include:

    • At all levels, people can wear a mask based on personal preference, informed by their personal level of risk.

    • People with COVID-19 symptoms and/or exposure to someone with COVID-19 should not participate in an in-person Future Front event or visit a Future Front location until they test negative and/or they are no longer at risk.

    • People with a positive COVID-19 test and/or not fully vaccinated should not participate in an in-person Future Front event or visit a Future Front location until they test negative and/or they are fully vaccinated and no longer at risk.
