This International Women’s Day, we’re celebrating with a special collaborative edition of craftHER Market. On March 7 and 8, join us and the Downtown Austin Alliance Foundation to celebrate the reveal of Writing on the Walls, a series of collaborative public art installations and events.
— WHAT TO EXPECT —
From 11 AM to 4 PM each day at the LINE Hotel, we’ll host free arts demonstrations and a mini pop-up shop featuring women artists, makers and small business owners from craftHER Market Spring 2020. While you hang with us, you’ll be able to watch acclaimed muralist and designer Shepard Fairey collaborate with Canadian artist Sandra Chevrier to live-paint a 12-story installation on the walls of the LINE Hotel.
— HOW TO RSVP —
These events are entirely free and open to the public—and all are welcome.
— VENUE ACCESSIBILITY NOTES —
This venue is wheelchair accessible and fully equipped with elevators to all floors, and there is valet available onsite. We highly encourage utilizing rideshare or carpooling as there is no available self-parking onsite. If you have a question about the building's accessibility, shoot us a line at thebabes@bossbabes.org, and we're happy to answer. :)
— MEET THE PRODUCERS AND PARTNERS —
bbatx (#bossbabesATX) is a Texas-based nonprofit that amplifies and connects women and nonbinary creatives, entrepreneurs and leaders. We believe that representation, education and intersectionality make for more resilient leaders and communities. Through conferences, markets, festivals and meet-ups, we create spaces to share our crafts, find collaborators, learn new skills, seek guidance and provide each other with practical and emotional resources. Our programs showcase, educate and connect 1500+ emerging women and nonbinary creatives, entrepreneurs and leaders per year. Beyond the opportunities we offer, our exhibitions and events are attended by 20,000+ community members per year. So, whether you apply to participate in one of our programs, attend our workshops, conferences and dialogues, or come out to a festival or market to support the community we’re building, you’re a member of this movement. All babes, all people, are welcome. :) Learn more at bossbabes.org.
craftHER Market is a biannual market, produced and presented by bbatx. It's been inspired by a few of our favorite things: pop-up spaces, traditional marketplaces and the people who organize others to gather. In its three years of existence, craftHER Market has showcased more than 600 makers and seen 20,000+ attendees and 2,000+ applicants. Opening every Spring and Fall, the two-day community event features entrepreneurial panels, opportunities to support local nonprofits and family-friendly activities. Reflecting a myriad of women and nonbinary artists and creative entrepreneurs across Texas, all 150 of our seasonal exhibitors own their craft, and at least 90% of our booths exhibit wares made by hand. 🎈Learn more at crafthermarket.com.
