UNITED is coming back for its fifth year to celebrate Black history, Black diversity and Black unity—and, as always, the annual event is entirely curated and produced by women of the African Diaspora.
— ABOUT THE EVENT —
As part of our Black History month celebrations, bbatx is proud to be a sponsor of UNITED.
Brought to you by The Groove Temple, Raasin in the Sun and Miriam Conner, this year’s UNITED is an all-access event, shining a spotlight on Black women and Black heritage through the lens of House Music. UNITED: Volume 5 will feature the incomparable soulful deep house stylings of Chicagos’ Dee Jay Alicia and Austin’s DJ I Wanna Be Her and DJ SHANI (who were both in bbatx’s 2019 residency).
This party has been named "UNITED” because we believe in the power of solidarity and community under one common groove. We welcome everyone from all communities and always have representation from disabled and queer communities in every event we produce.
As a Black History Month celebration, we maintain that our story did not begin with slavery, but with our families, traditions, cultures and music. We are the children of revolutionaries, intellectuals and innovators—those that make music what it is today.
On February 22nd, we celebrate the power and influence we’ve made worldwide through our melodies and rhythms, so join us.

BBATX (#bossbabesATX) is a Texas-based nonprofit that amplifies and connects women and nonbinary creatives, entrepreneurs and leaders. We believe that representation, education and intersectionality make for more resilient leaders and communities. Through conferences, markets, festivals and meet-ups, we create spaces to share our crafts, find collaborators, learn new skills, seek guidance and provide each other with practical and emotional resources. Our programs showcase, educate and connect 1500+ emerging women and nonbinary creatives, entrepreneurs and leaders per year. Beyond the opportunities we offer, our exhibitions and events are attended by 20,000+ community members per year. So, whether you apply to participate in one of our programs, attend our workshops, conferences and dialogues, or come out to a festival or market to support the community we’re building, you’re a member of this movement. All babes, all people, are welcome. :) Learn more at bossbabes.org.
