Over the last few weeks, our team has been in pivot mode. Thanks to the efforts of bbatx committee members Liz Whitington and A’nysha Aileen, as well as our Executive Director Jane Hervey, we’ve been able to compile hyperlocal resources for those navigating COVID-19 whiplash. GRANTS & FUNDING IN AUSTIN, TEXAS

Mid-America Arts Alliance (MAAA)-GRANT

A great Artistic Innovations project is one that has in-person experiences of art, art making, or artists at the heart of the initiative and introduces a new or original idea or product to the applicant’s audience. Engagement through feature presentation and outreach includes but is not limited to performance, publication, lecture/demonstration, exhibition, master class and/or workshop. Maximum request amount $15,000. Apply here.

Texas Cultural Trust-GRANT/PROJECT

The Texas Cultural Trust (TXCT) invites artists and creative teams residing in Texas—as well as those who have previously lived and worked in Texas—to submit their qualifications for the development of a new Texas Medal of Arts. Applicants should submit their qualifications only, and not proposals. Once an artist or creative team is selected, they will be invited to create and propose full ideas, concepts, and artwork for the Texas Medal of Arts. Submit here!

Contemporary Art Digest - SCHOLARSHIP

The ACN Student Scholarship is open to undergraduate BIPOC student who can demonstrate financial need. Students must be pursuing a degree in visual art from an accredited four-year university in the United States. Find out more here.

Parent Residency Grant- RESIDENCY

This residency includes a $1450 childcare stipend, up to $250 for travel costs, free onsite housing, and 24/7 studio access. The $1450 childcare stipend can be used at the artist’s discretion, though a childcare plan must be submitted with the application. Learn more here.

Tila Studios Fund for Black Women Artists – GRANT

In an effort to sustain black women’s contributions in the art industry during the COVID -19, TILA Studios is launching a recurring monthly fund beginning at $1,000 to support black women artists nationwide. Find out more here.

Redbull Microgrant Program – GRANT

Red Bull has announced the expansion of its artist microgrant to Austin. All artists who apply will be considered for a once-monthly stipend of $1,000 through end of 2020 (a total of $5,000 beginning in August). Learn more here.

SBA Grants for Small Businesses

The SBA is giving out 1k for small business owners, sole-proprietors and the like, and apparently they're approving everyone. More info on it being a grant and not a loan here. Access the application by clicking here.

Joann’s Grants for Black Sewists and Crafters – GRANT – [OPENS AUGUST 1]

We’re very proud to announce a new program that supports two things that are important to us – diversity and handmade happiness. This program will offer $100,000 in annual grants to Black sewists and crafters across the USA. If you are interested, we welcome and encourage you to apply! Southern Smoke Relief Grant – GRANT / SERVICE INDUSTRY

Southern Smoke is a nonprofit 501c3 charitable foundation. Our Emergency Relief Program provides emergency funding to those employed by or own restaurants or bars or are employed by a restaurant or bar supplier that are faced unforeseen expenses that cannot or will not be covered by insurance. FCA Emergency Grants COVID-19 Fund – GRANT / FINE ART

Foundation for Contemporary Arts is creating a temporary fund to meet the needs of experimental artists who have been impacted by the economic fallout from postponed or canceled performances and exhibitions. The Foundation will disburse one-time $1,500 grants to artists who have had performances or exhibitions canceled or postponed because of the pandemic. Apply here.

Equal Sound’s Corona Relief Fund – GRANT / MUSIC

If you are a musician who has lost income due to a cancelled gig as a result of the Coronavirus / COVID-19 outbreak you can apply for funding. Apply here.

Craft Emergency Fund - GRANT / ARTS

CERF+ broadly defines eligible artists to include those who create work using historically recognized craft materials such as clay, glass, textiles, wood, metal; as well as those whose work expands on these historical definitions through the incorporation of non-traditional materials, new technologies and experimental approaches. Arts Leaders of Color Emergency Fund – GRANT / ARTS

Arts Administrators of Color Network has set up the Arts Leaders of Color Emergency Fund. This fund is for US-based BIPOC artists and administrators. This is a ONE-TIME micro grant of $200. Apply here.

Artist Relief – GRANT / ARTS

Artist Relief will distribute $5,000 grants to artists facing dire financial emergencies due to COVID-19; serve as an ongoing informational resource; and co-launch the COVID-19 Impact Survey for Artists and Creative Workers, designed by Americans for the Arts, to better identify and address the needs of artists. Texas Disaster Unemployment Assistance – RESOURCE

Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) provides unemployment benefits for individuals who lost their jobs or self-employment or who are no longer working as a direct result of a major disaster for which a disaster assistance period is declared, and who applied but are not eligible for regular unemployment benefits. Red River Cultural District’s Banding Together – GRANTS / ARTS

Banding Together ATX has secured philanthropic donations to support workers in the music, hospitality, and service industry - you can either donate or apply to receive up to $100 grocery gift cards. Apply here.

Artists Emergency Fund, Austin Creative Alliance – GRANTS / ARTS

As part of Austin Creative Alliance response to the Coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic, ACA has established The Artists Emergency Relief Fund where artist can apply for up to $500 to replace verifiable lost income due to the cancellation of a specific, scheduled gig or opportunity (i.e. commissions, performances, contracts) due to Coronavirus/COVID-19 precautionary measures. Communities of Color Coalition – Support Mutual Aid / Buy Masks

Since COVID-19 hit our community, Communities of Color United has been working on a number of mutual aid projects, including an all women’s sewing collective. Members of our community have lost work and income, are caring for their homes and children, and still need to be able to thrive and provide for their families. With the second wave coming upon us, we must be prepared to protect our loved ones and neighbors while also supporting our local community. We’ve been working by word of mouth initially, but we’re expanding this invitation for everyone to support this mutual aid effort by purchasing hand-sewn masks. Click here to learn more.

As a supplement to this program, we are also investigating a partnership with Get Shift Done to connect furloughed food service workers with paid positions to temporarily serve organizations that are in need of volunteer labor.

As part of the Seasoned Relief Project, we created a "Share Your Story" campaign, where industry professionals posted how COVID-19 has impacted their life in our community app—and in return, we sent $100 straight into their account. Espacio Handmade Seeks Donations for Medical Face Shields

The Open Arms Studio is joining forces with makers across the country to produce one-size-fits-most mask covers in an effort to reserve N95 mask supplies.
