Ahead of this year’s Austin Studio Tour, come through for a classic Creative Community Meet-Up on Saturday, November 8 from 11 AM to 1 PM CT.

As always, this meet-up is open to all.

The Schedule

11:00 AM — Meet at Future Front to settle in. This is a good time to explore our Austin Studio Tour show, grab a cup of coffee in our neighborhood, meet this month’s pop-ups and introduce yourself to a few people.

11:30 AM — Community storytime begins.

12:00 PM — Announcements open. If you're there, you can share (capacity limited). You can submit your announcement ahead of time at this link.

12:30 PM — Announcements close. Grab lunch in the area, explore neighboring creative spaces and arts studios that are open, etc. We will be open throughout the rest of the day to celebrate the debut of “Open Call” for Austin Studio Tour, too.

This community meet-up is only $10 by donation, thanks to support from Future Front's members, donors, sponsors and partners.

THE LINEUP

Guest Speaker + DJ

JP

Jasmin Porter (JP) is a creative entrepreneur from Oakland, CA who exhibits her creativity through photography, event production and DJing. She is the co-founder of Do Not Disturb Collective, as well as many collaborative local event series in Austin, Texas. Her daytime and nightlife productions welcome thousands of Austin residents annually.

Olivia Emigh

Olivia Emigh (she/her) is an Austin-based cultural organizer and product manager dedicated to creating spaces that celebrate fashion, art, and queer community. As Events Director of Glaze Zine, she has produced immersive runway shows, community fundraisers, and editorial features uplifting women and LGBTQ+ creatives. Beyond her work with Glaze, she produced the inaugural Butch Prom, a high-camp celebration of queer masculinity that brought together over 400 attendees and raised funds for Black Trans Leadership Austin. Whether curating large-scale shows or independent projects, Olivia is driven by a love of collaboration, storytelling, and community care.

Carlos Moreno

Carlos Moreno (@carlosarickmoreno) is the founder of Barrio Pop Studio and Director of Scent Fair Austin, a platform at the intersection of art, fragrance, and culture. His curatorial practice explores scent as a medium for connection, care, and cultural storytelling, bridging contemporary craft and olfactory art. Scent Fair Austin reimagines the traditional art fair by focusing on fragrance and sensory experiences, bringing together artists, perfumers, and makers to explore memory, botanical wisdom, and Latinx perspectives. A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin’s College of Fine Arts, Moreno has collaborated with institutions such as the Andy Warhol Museum, SITE Santa Fe, ICA Boston, and the Studio Museum in Harlem, positioning fragrance as a shared language of creativity, healing, and belonging.

Sonder

Sonder is a DJ, host and creative producer. Originally from Detroit, she got her start in Austin as the co-founder of Do Not Disturb Collective, a celebrated party and community event series amplifying Black Austin creatives and local favorites. As a DJ, her sets blend house, jazz and R&B, with regular residencies in venues across the city.

Sara Nuttle

Sara Nuttle (she/her) is a visual notetaker based in Austin, Texas. She has a degree in psychology and fine arts from Goucher College. Sara specializes in using creative visuals to bring clarity and deeper understanding to any conversation. She has been a Graphic Recorder for five years, but has been integrating the arts into others' lives throughout her life.

Guest Photographer + Exhibiting Artist

Yvonne Uwah

Yvonne Uwah (she/her) is a self-taught photographer living in Austin, Texas. She began using photography out of a deep desire to connect with and acknowledge other people. Because of this, her work primarily focuses on portraiture and what emerges when investing time into relationships. She has exhibited at various galleries in Central Texas.

Future Front’s Community Studio is located at 1900 E. 12th Street.

WHERE TO PARK: We have a large paid parking lot across the street and is directly accessible by bus line. There’s also free parking up and down the street and in surrounding neighborhoods. Carpool, if you can! Find direct parking instructions and details here.

WHAT TO DO: Our studio is located within East Austin’s historic African-American Cultural Heritage District, which is home to many other creative spaces and businesses, as well as organizations like Six Square, the What Once Was Heritage Center at Rosewood Courts and Austin’s first HBCU and higher learning institution Huston-Tillotson University.

OUR COMMUNITY SAFETY GUIDELINES —

  • All Future Front staff, volunteers and guests will be required to practice mutual respect, as well as demonstrate an alignment with Future Front’s code of conduct and values: futurefronttexas.org/values.

  • Capacity is limited to reduce crowding of any kind and all events will be held in primarily outdoor and open-air spaces or have access to proper ventilations and well-maintained A/C systems.

  • At Future Front events, all guests are expected to follow Austin-local health and safety guidelines for gatherings, as well as practice consideration with the consumption of tobacco, alcohol and any other legal, mind-altering or dangerous substances and objects. This includes:

    • Discouraged use of tobacco products on the property of nearby businesses and residences, to improve air quality, throughout our events.

      • Tobacco use and electronic smoking device use are not permitted at any time within Future Front properties and event spaces at least 15 ft from entrances, exits, operational windows, or ventilation system intake vents. 

      • Littering of tobacco-related products on the grounds or parking lots is also prohibited.

    • Concealed or open weapons and firearms (including handguns) are not allowed at any Future Front venues.
