MEET THE ARTIST

Tumi Adeleye (she/her) is photographer and visual storyteller whose work explores the complexities of the cultures she grew up in from the perspective of a black woman living in America. Her work highlights the nostalgia of growing up in Brooklyn in the late 1990s and early 2000s and is equally inspired by her rich African culture. Piecing together the puzzle of life, she sheds light on topics such as black beauty, mental health, love, emotions and more. Her goal is to connect people to stories and imagery that are often under-appreciated, unrecognized, and forgotten.

MEET THE PRODUCERS, FUTURE FRONT TEXAS

Future Front is a 501c3 nonprofit, homegrown in Austin, Texas. We nurture spaces where women and LGBTQ+ creatives, founders and leaders can grow together. Currently, we produce The Front Market and Festival, host year-round workshops and meet-ups, as well as create resources for resilience in creative industries. Youโ€™re invited to join us, of course. You can learn more about how it all works, our team and what we do: futurefronttexas.org

The Mall is a small art gallery in Austin, Texas. We help artists make a living, with a particular interest in uplifting women artists, queer artists, and artists of color whose voices are more often marginalized, and to create an exciting and beautiful platform and context for their work. A majority of our gallery features works from Austin artists, and is exemplary of the unique culture of Austin. Beyond a space for exhibition, The Mall also actively facilitates education and community via four workshops annually, and the creation of new art via commissions of editioned work.

This project is supported in part by the Cultural Arts Division of the City of Austin Economic Development Department.
