Plus-Size Clothing Swap & Community Fundraiser!

Time to clear out your closet & get ready to snag new-to-you garments! Our Plus-Size Community Clothing Swap is back by popular demand—celebrating larger bodies size XL and up.

Hosted by Future Front board members Xochi Solis and Hali Martin, this event's one-part swap and one-part fundraiser. So, join us to support Future Front Texas AND sustainable ways to shop by keeping clothing out of landfills! 

The swap will be held on Saturday, July 15 from noon to 2 PM CT.

Tickets are $25 (benefitting Future Front Texas’ nonprofit initiatives), and all attendees must bring at least five items (size XL+, all styles welcome) to participate. There'll be an opportunity to win incredible raffle items onsite, too!

WHAT TO EXPECT

SWAP GUIDELINES

A ticket is required to participate (it's a fundraiser, y'all!).

Attendees must bring at least 5 items to swap.

  • All clothing must be sized X-LARGE and up. (Standard Women’s size 12+, Standard Men’s 36+)

  • All styles of clothing for larger bodies are welcome. All seasons and occasions are welcome, i.e. winter coats, cocktail dresses, etc. Shoes, athletic wear (lightly used), and accessories are welcome.

  • All clothing must be clean. All clothing should be in good, wearable condition. No holes, rips, or stains (unless stylistic). Vintage items must be in excellent condition.

Bathrooms and small changing areas will be made available.

Any unused or unswapped clothing will be re-homed or donated to Austin-local spots, like Austin Habitat for Humanity Restore or Austin Pets Alive! Thrift.

GoGo YumYum will parked out front for ice cream and sweet treats!

MEET YOUR HOSTS

Xochi Solis (she/her) is a mixed media artist born and raised in Austin, Texas. Her works include multilayered, collaged paintings constructed from paint, hand-dyed paper, vinyl, plastics, and images from found books and magazines.

As an accomplished artist and leader in her community with over 18 years of experience, Solis is enthusiastic about continuing to transform her practice as a cultural producer into a vehicle for active citizenship and civic responsibility. In addition to her studio practice, she spins records as Mira Mira with a focus on the preservation and performance of Tejanx culture.

Hali Martin (she/they) is an accomplished marketer, born in the Bay Area, living and working in Austin, Texas. Her work includes campaigns for technology companies, film festivals, and universities. Currently, Hali is the Digital Marketing Manager for Social Solutions a technology company creating nonprofit tech for the good of communities. She has a professional and personal passion for diversity & inclusion, facilitative deliberation, queer theory, and uplifting up the voices of QTPOC. Outside of work, they moderate panels, and teach workshops on google analytics and SEO best practices. Hali can be found at the farmer's market, reading the Sunday paper, and finding new recipes to cook.

This is a fundraiser for our rad programs! Participating in the swap requires a $25 donation.

PREPARE YOUR VISIT TO THE SWAP.

The Future Front House is located at 1900 E 12th St. Austin, Texas 78702. The building offers complimentary parking lot access, as well as proximity to free and paid street parking options. Public transportation and/or carpooling to this location is encouraged!

IMPORTANT COMMUNITY NOTES + GUIDELINES —

  • All FFTX staff, volunteers and guests will be required to practice mutual respect, as well as demonstrate an alignment with Future Front’s guidelines and values.

  • All Future Front sessions are currently held online, outdoors or in open-air spaces where quality air flow is possible, ADA compliance is prioritized and assisted mobility devices can be utilized.

  • All Future Front sessions follow capacity limits to reduce crowding of any kind.

  • All guests are required to practice mutual respect and social distancing, as well as follow APH’s COVID-19 Guidelines, which currently include:

    • At all levels, people can wear a mask based on personal preference, informed by their personal level of risk.

    • People with COVID-19 symptoms and/or exposure to someone with COVID-19 should not participate in an in-person Future Front event or visit a Future Front location until they test negative and/or they are no longer at risk.

    • People with a positive COVID-19 test and/or not fully vaccinated should not participate in an in-person Future Front event or visit a Future Front location until they test negative and/or they are fully vaccinated and no longer at risk.
