— ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP —
Join us on September 21 from 5 to 7 PM at Make ATX’s studio to play with lasers. :) During this craftHER Market workshop, you’ll receive an introduction to laser-cutting, led by artist and MakeATX designer Devon Stonebrook. Devon will show us how laser-cutting works, what materials can be cut by a laser and how fabrication tools can be used to create next-level products and branding materials. Beyond learning how to laser-cut, this workshop will also serve as a moment to explore MakeATX’s woman-owned, membership-driven makerspace and fabrication studio, while meeting other people who make things with their hands.
All skill levels welcome.
— MEET THE WORKSHOP’S HOST —
MakeATX is a member-based design and fabrication workshop and custom laser cutting studio in Austin, Texas.
From the studio: “We founded MakeATX with the belief that having access to the proper equipment and workspace would not only allow us to make beautiful objects with our tools and our hands, but it would also allow us the possibility of making a modest living doing something we love. In 2011, we opened our doors to a select number of local designers and makers with similar ambitions, and we now run a thriving workspace full of like-minded members, sharing resources, techniques and ideas, providing not only jobs for our handful of employees, but also allowing other business owners to make a living making things. MakeATX serves as an incubator for both business and design innovation.”
