Meet Her Hands: Arielle Austin

MEET HER HANDS #2
ARIELLE AUSTIN

THURSDAY, JULY 14, 6:30-8:30 PM
with the Elisabet Ney Museum

Presenting MEET HER HANDS, a new Summer evening series featuring Austin women artists in a discussion about their work, their inspiration, and—their hands, hence their process. The events will be outside on the banks of Waller Creek, the location of Elisabet Ney’s famous salons. In case of inclement weather, the events will move inside. Work from the artists will be on display during the events. Refreshments will be served.

The second artist in this series is ARIELLE AUSTIN. Austin's work explores the intimate relationship between subject and viewer with layers, texture and details in mind. While experimenting with this process, Austin hopes to compel the viewer to take a closer look, to become intimate with the piece, resembling our very own human nature and desire—the desire that makes known the unspoken, observes the corners, wonders of technique, yearns to touch textures, dissect its layers.

She works primarily with paint, non-traditional materials and dried flowers. From oil paintings of juxtaposed memories, flowing abstraction and repurposed blooms; Austin's hope is to have the viewer find a bit of themselves in each piece somehow.

FREE + OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. NO RSVP REQUIRED.
