Do Good, Feel Good: #bossbabesATX Shop Talk on Sustainable Living and Conscious Fashion with Ten Thousand Villages

This event is a part of #bossbabesATX Shop Talk series, will be on Oct. 6 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Ten Thousand Villages on 4803 Burnet Road.

Doing good doesn't have to be hard. In fact, if you wear clothes, work, and/or live in Austin, you're already super close to lots of opportunities to give back and do good in your daily life!

This "Do Good, Feel Good" workshop, co-hosted with Ten Thousand Villages of Austin, will empower you to give back in ways that are practical and meaningful for you. We'll be sharing different avenues to offer your skills and service, build a social impact into your business, and shop ethically to do good AND feel good.

The event starts at 6pm on Tuesday, October 6th at Ten Thousand Villages, when guests can shop a special 10% off #BossbabesATX sale. The first panel on volunteerism will commence at 7pm, followed by a discussion with local social entrepreneurs and finishing with a Q&A on conscious fashion. We'll wrap up with a short, guided singing bowl meditation to have everyone feeling zen when they leave!

The panels will cover topics such as:

  • Finding volunteer opportunities that align with your passions (and your schedule)
  • Volunteering your professional skills
  • Social enterprise options such as one-for-one models, ethical supply chains, and charity partnerships
  • Starting a nonprofit or mission-driven business
  • Upcycling, recycling and thrifting your wardrobe
  • Deciphering ethical clothing labels such as fair trade, handmade, made in the USA and organic
  • Learning how to find and buy affordable, ethically made clothing

We'll share our favorite resources, organizations, brands and tools, to make it easy to do good! Representatives from local organizations Ten Thousand Villages, Multicultural Refugee Coalition, Open Arms, Raven and Lily, Purse and Clutch, Mitla Moda, Crafts and Arts and Dress Well Do Good will be on hand to answer any questions you might have about volunteer work, social entrepreneurship and ethical fashion as well as sharing their personal stories of living ethically.

RSVP is required via Eventbrite and the event will be capped at 50 attendees.
