ASSEMBLY

You’re invited to Future Front’s first-annual Assembly, an org-wide day for Strategic Planning for our internal team, which includes staff, key contractors, board and advisors.

Hosted after our Reunion retreat in October, Assembly is part of Future Front’s approach to DIY Strategic Planning processes. This is a fantastic opportunity to gather, reflect and vision together as we set goals, roles and deadlines for the new year. Together, we will:

  • Gather clear, actionable feedback to refine our Strategic Plan for 2026

  • Align on where and how collaboration is needed to achieve our goals for this year’s portion of the plan

  • Build our own personal goals for Future Front projects, as well as identify shared ownership for projects with each other

  • Create space for generative thinking, new ideas & collective problem-solving

Your presence and input, as always, are essential as we shape what’s next for our work together.

ASSEMBLY 2026 SCHEDULE

  • All sessions will be offered virtually and in-person (unless otherwise indicated). All virtual sessions will be recorded.

10 AM TO 11 AM • WELCOME BREAKFAST AND REFLECTIONS

Future Front’s Executive Director Jane Hervey will guide us through an interactive session over breakfast. We’ll talk about the State of Future Front and why we’re here (Slides 38 to 47).

11 AM TO 12 PM • INTRO TO STRATEGIC PLAN

Future Front’s incoming Board President Hali Martin and outgoing Board President Xochi Solis will introduce this year’s Strategic Plan, providing time for us all to contribute feedback and notes for the Governing Board to review. (These notes will then be turned into tasks and deadlines at future meetings within each advisory.)

12 TO 1:15 PM • DEVELOPMENT ADVISORY SESSION

How does fundraising apply to you? How have you helped something grow at an organization, within your work, for the community? How can you bring that energy to fundraising or to some of Future Front's programs / strategic plan priorities? In this session, led by Future Front’s Board Treasurer Diana Gorham, with assistance from the Development Advisory, will walk through Future Front’s community-centric fundraising toolkit—as well as different strategies that work best for you!

    1:15 TO 2:15 PMLUNCH

We have no idea what lunch will be yet, but it will be yummy, because our incoming Board President Hali Martin is in charge!

2:15 TO 3:30 PMEXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP ADVISORY SESSION

In this session led by Executive Leadership Advisory board member, Natalie Davis, will work through Conflict Management & Communication of Need, specific to volunteer-led groups like Future Front, as well as working with creative communities.

    3:30 TO 4:45 PM• CURATORIAL ADVISORY SESSION

In this session led by incoming Board President Hali Martin, we’ll review the Future Front Framework™, which captures our stance on community design, as well as the developing model for Future Front’s programming and creative leadership curriculum.

5 TO 7 PM• WINTER DIP HAPPY HOUR FOR XOCHI SOLIS (ONLY IRL)

Join us for a happy hour at THE PLANT AT KYLE to celebrate our exiting Board President, artist and community leader Xochi Solis. Together, we’ll toast to her eight years at Future Front, reflect on her journey as one of our core founders and cheer on her next chapter. Expect a lineup of natural wines and chillable reds, the ever-so-dirty martini and NA mocktails, alongside a block-print workshop with Future Front Curatorial Advisory Member Anderson Dean.
