Known for its legacy of supporting artists, The LINE Austin is opening its doors for the second annual Downtown Austin Creative Retreat—a two-day artist residency experience, designed for intention and retreat from the rhythm of everyday life.

3 PM ★ Check-In Begins — Settle into your room using the instructions provided by The LINE Hotel Austin. (See confirmation email in your inbox.)
6 PM ★ Retreat Welcome + Art Tour — Head to The LINE Hotel lobby for the official retreat welcome with Future Front’s Director Jane Hervey and The LINE Hotel Austin’s Brand Manager Izzy. This includes a brief tour of the hotel’s art collection, an introduction to the retreat schedule by this year’s co-hosts Seth Prestwood and Taylor Danielle Davis, and an overview of what to expect throughout the weekend.
7:30 PM ★ Free Time / South Congress Bat Bridge — This retreat is all about space and time. Head back to your room or venture out onto the South Congress bridge from the hotel pool to catch Austin’s iconic bats at sunset. Grab dinner at the hotel or head somewhere downtown!
9 PM ★ Performance by Midnight Navy in Cantero — Head to the hotel’s Cantero pool bar for a nighttime performance from Midnight Navy. Feel free to invite your own guests for this portion of the evening. No additional registration required.

9 to 11 AM ★ Free Time — This time is all for you. So, plan your own breakfast and lunch, head to the painting room, take a walk on the lake trail, explore downtown Austin or work independently in your room.
11 AM to 1 PM ★ Best (Artist) Business Practices with DJ CASSANDRA and promqueen — To kick off Day Two of the retreat, head to the second floor for a visioning workshop with award-winning composer, producer and DJ Cassandra Shankman, alongside rising musician and songwriter promqueen.
11 AM to 5 PM ★ Play With Clay, Collage and Charcoal in the Topaz Ballroom — Head back to Topaz ballroom for meditative free-create sessions with Austin-based artists Xochi Solis, Selina Wagner, Brittany Bosco and Tanya Zal. Sessions run every 1.5 hours. Pick your sessions with the code VIPGUEST26 here.
1 to 4 PM ★ Visual Artist Consults with Taylor Danielle Davis in Showroom 201 — Sit down with independent curator and community arts organizer Taylor Danielle Davis for 30-minute consults on your creative practice and the development of your visual art career. Taylor has graciously offered to meet outside of the retreat, since these sessions have sold out. You can select a time on her calendar here.
4 to 5 PM ★ Complimentary Headshots with Kate Nuelle in Showroom 201 — Get a retreat portrait captured by photographer and artist Kate Nuelle.
5 to 7 PM ★ Free Time
7 PM ★ Artist Dinner — All retreat guests are invited to a complimentary dinner at The LINE Hotel’s renowned Arlo Grey by chef Kristen Kish.
Hosted by Jane Hervey, with special guests (and 2025 Retreat attendees) multidisciplinary artist, musician and filmmaker Megan Trufant Tillman and writer and filmmaker Kimiko Matsuda-Lawrence.

10 AM ★ Wellness Session in the Topaz Ballroom — Head to Topaz Ballroom for a closing stretch and reflection guided by Jaguar High Priestess, with complimentary beverages from SmartWater and Topo Chico.
11 AM ★ Check-Out Ends — Check out of your room and leave your belongings with guest services to hang out by the pool.
12 to 4 PM ★ Closing Swim Session at The LINE Austin Pool — Time for final goodbyes! Stick around by the pool for back to back DJ sets from Do Not Disturb Collective.

WHAT TO BRING:
Beyond your own belongings and personal items, please bring a swimsuit and a yoga mat, as well as any of the supplies you need for your creative work over the weekend.

THE LINE HOTEL AUSTIN
The Line Hotel Austin is located in Downtown Austin, Texas. Once home to a jazz club that broadcast live on local radio in the late 1960s, the hotel is part of Downtown history and holds a cultural legacy as unique as the city itself. Today, you can find a little bit of everything HERE—art, food, design—even nature.
Future Front Texas
Homegrown in Austin, Future Front Texas is an award-winning cultural space and exhibition series led by women and LGBTQ+ creatives in Texas. As a 501(c)(3) arts and culture nonprofit, Future Front Texas produces year-round community-led programming, welcoming over 20,000 visitors annually. The organization hosts two exhibitions—The Front Market and The Front Festival—as well as shows and workshops at its creative space in historic East Austin. Through these programs and a diverse network of partnerships, Future Front pioneers unique, community-based models for cultural programming in all kinds of spaces—from museums to city streets to public parks.
